Today, we continue to press forward, guided by our commitment to raising up global change agents who are passionate about fulfilling God’s will and mandate.

Meet Our Apostle

Apostle Sharon Phumla Mfene, a seasoned Senior Pastor with 19 years of extensive experience leading congregations and fostering spiritual growth. Committed to guiding individuals towards Christ, she actively engages the community in outreach and missionary endeavours, while strategizing to uphold long-term operational objectives. Proficient in mentorship, education, and spiritual counselling, she consistently demonstrates effectiveness in enhancing congregational community involvement and achieving church objectives.

Apostle Phumla pursued her academic journey at Elijah Mango College Education, obtaining a diploma in teaching. She furthered her studies at the University of Zululand, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and later at Stellenbosch University, where she acquired a bachelor’s degree in theology.

As a dedicated traveling preacher, Apostle Phumla has journeyed across various African countries including Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Israel, and Nigeria. She has also made notable appearances as a co-host on Radio Pulpit and TV Christian programs.

At Immanuel River Church, Apostle Phumla leads with a focus on worship, community engagement, and ministry, aligning efforts to foster spiritual understanding and achieve organizational goals locally and internationally. She is instrumental in crafting and executing the church’s vision, ensuring alignment with both immediate needs and long-term aspirations. Apostle Phumla Mfene spearheads pastoral and outreach programs, offering biblical counselling and overseeing significant rites such as marriages and funerals. Additionally, she coordinates worship schedules and activities, equipping staff and lay leaders with necessary resources and support.

In her leadership capacity, Apostle Phumla supports, oversees, and manages congregational employees, collaborating with HR to recruit and appoint non-ordained personnel, as well as ordaining qualified individuals. She actively assists the Outreach Committee in implementing ministries aimed at engaging unchurched, inactive, and new community members, facilitating their seamless integration into the congregation.
